The veneers process typically only takes two appointments at Smile Culture Dental. At your first appointment, your mouth will be numbed and a small amount of enamel will be removed from your teeth to make room for the veneers and ensure that they fit perfectly. Next, images and dental impressions will be taken of your mouth. These will be used by a third party dental lab to create your custom veneers.
When your permanent veneers arrive, you’ll return to our office for your last appointment. Your teeth will be cleaned and the fit and finish of your veneers will be checked. To finish the procedure, your veneers will be bonded into place permanently using dental cement.
Lumineers function just like traditional porcelain veneers and they are intended to treat the same cosmetic conditions. The primary difference between the two is that Lumineers are extremely thin (they are only about as thick as a contact lens). This means that, in most cases, Lumineers can be placed onto your teeth without requiring the removal of any of your natural enamel.
Veneers are one of the most versatile cosmetic dental treatments. They can improve almost any cosmetic issue, including gaps in your smile, slightly-crooked teeth, misshapen teeth, serious stains, and chipped teeth.
However, veneers are strictly cosmetic and should not be used to repair seriously damaged teeth. They are not intended to be a restorative treatment, so teeth that are very small, misshapen or damaged may be better served with a cosmetic crown.
If you have a healthy mouth but you want to improve the appearance of your front teeth, you may be a good candidate for veneers.
